HOSKINS LITHGOW SCHOLARSHIP

BACKGROUND

Since 2006, the Hoskins Trust has provided a tertiary studies scholarship to the value of $25,000, open to any resident of the Lithgow Local Government Area who is an Australian citizen under the age of 26 on 1st July in the year preceding the award.

The scholarship therefore is not restricted to current year 12 students. Initially, the scholarship was awarded every second year. In 2008 the Trustees were pleased to be able to award the scholarship annually.

BRIEF DETAILS ABOUT PREVIOUS WINNERS:

2006 Kate Purcell (HSC 1999) to enable her to add a Bachelor of Law (Graduate) Degree at U.N.S.W. to an Arts Degree she had completed at Macquarie University in 2002.

2008 There were joint winners:

Victor Rufus (HSC 2006) to begin a Bachelor of Music / Bachelor of Science Degree at A.N.U., and

Daniel Simpson (HSC 2007) to begin a Bachelor of Nursing / Bachelor of Clinical Practice (Paramedic) at C.S.U.

2009 Again there were joint winners:

Alexandra Legge (HSC 2005) who is studying for the Bachelor of Medicine Degree at the University of Newcastle, and

Melissa Smith (HSC 2006) who is studying for the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at U.N.S.W.

APPLICATION TIMETABLE AND CONTACT DETAILS:

Applications for the 2010 Scholarships open on Monday 27 th July, 2009 and close on Friday, 21 st August, 2009. Applications must be post-marked no later than Friday 21 st August, 2009.
