Lithgow City Council is reviewing the management structure of the Wolgan Road Project as we prepare to enter the delivery phase. The next stage of work will determine the works required to mitigate the rockfall risks along the original Wolgan Gap Road alignment, before progressing with the works to reconstruct the road for temporary reopening. Council continues to work closely with the Wolgan community as we navigate this complex project.
At the 29 June 2026 Council meeting, it was resolved that, prior to executing any contract or variation for the continued engagement of Wassabi Group, an independent pricing review and a probity review of the proposed schedule of rates and upper limiting fee be obtained.
Consistent with the outcome of that review, it was determined that the appropriate course was to test the market for these services. The current project management arrangement with Wassabi Group has been brought to a close and staff are now procuring replacement project management services.
