Household Chemical CleanOut
The Household Chemical CleanOut is for the safe disposal of household chemicals.
The 2026 Household Chemical CleanOut will be held as follows:
Date: Sunday 13 September 2026
Time: 9am - 12pm
Location: Lithgow Solid Waste Facility, 68 Geordie Street Lithgow
The following chemicals are accepted in household quantities - up to 20L or 20kg per waste type:
- Acids and alkalis
- Ammonia-based cleaners
- Floor care products
- Household cleaners and solvents
- Pesticides, herbicides and poisons,
- Pool chemicals and hobby chemicals
- Cooking oils*
- Motor fuels and oils*
- Car and Household batteries*
- Fluorescent globes and tubes*
- Smoke detectors*
- Paint and paint-related products (up to 100L of paint, in 20L containers, can be accepted)*
- Vapes (as part of the Embedded Batteries trial which ends in September 2026)*
*These items are also accepted at the Community Recycling Centre, 7 days/week
Business-related and commercial quantities of chemicals are not accepted.
